The Story Behind The Purple Cow
Since 1989, The Purple Cow House of Pancakes has been serving Fairfield and the surrounding Maine community with hearty food, friendly smiles, and family-style service.
What started as a small, local breakfast spot quickly became a go-to gathering place for everyone — families, travelers, early risers, and regulars who know exactly how they like their coffee.
Many of our employees have been here for decades, and our customers have grown right along with us. We’ve seen kids come in for pancakes with their parents, and now those same kids bring in their own families. That’s what makes this place special — it’s more than a restaurant, it’s a hometown tradition.
This place has large and small portions. You can pick and choose. I got their biggest one and...I have to admit defeat for the first time in a long time. Their sunrise meal with their pancakes was delicious. Unfortunately and fortunately, I couldn't finish all the pancakes because they were so big. Its so satisfying finding a place that fills you for the amount you pay.
I hope purple cow never changes. It's delicious and as much food as you want. My family loved it here. My wife says the bagel was incredibly good. My son loved the chocolate chip pancakes. The poached eggs were actually done well.
If I had to make a change, I'd say expand and have more places! The people are wonderful here. It's our new favorite breakfast place. Thank you for giving me a taste of home.
